A vacancy exists for an Aboriginal Liaison Officer at our Pt Augusta office. This is a newly created positioned which aims to build relationships with Aboriginal service providers and carers and develop pathways to enable Aboriginal carers to access services. The position will also work staff based in our other offices throughout the North West Country region.

Our services provide carers with the opportunity to have a break from their caring role while the person they care for is looked after at home or in the community.

We are looking for a person with the following skills:
- Good communication and liaison skills
- Assessment and service planning
- Knowledge and experience in service provision to the target group - carers of older people
- Established networks with Aboriginal service providers within the region.
This position is offered on a part time basis of 30 hours per week.

Qualifications in Human Services and experience working with carers are desirable.

Some intrastate travel is an expectation within the role.

The Salary Package Value range after application of full salary sacrificing including meal entertainment = $50,429 to $60,025(FTE). The cash gross salary range (before tax) is $40,290 to $48,048 dependent on experience and/or qualifications.

The position as a Community Worker/Health Advocate is full time on a Fixed Term Contract to 30/6/10.

The Congress congregation at Salisbury North includes, and is in contact with, many Aboriginal people and families in challenging situations. The Social Worker will develop strong, positive relationships with these Aboriginal families and individuals in order to gain an understanding of the challenges they face, to help them explore their own capacity to address these challenges, and to identify patterns of demand and service gaps. The Social Worker will support and advocate for families and individuals in their interactions with organisations and Government departments.

The Social Worker will participate positively in the congregational life of an Aboriginal church. The Social Worker will support the ethos of the congregation.

The Social Worker will work with Aboriginal people in an unstructured setting including field and home visits. The Social Worker will work to build on the strengths of individuals, families and the community to support their positive aspirations and foster resilience.

The Social Worker will provide front line assistance to families through initial intake, assessment and referral services. The Social Worker will also provide advice to UCW Adelaide and Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (SA) on how to best meet the needs of Aboriginal families.

Care Services for Older People (CSFOP) is a section of UnitingCare Wesley Adelaide, which supports older people who live in their own homes, in a variety of ways, ranging from high level nursing care, to social support, therapy, rehabilitation transition from hospital to home, and community care packages. Many of the community care packages are dedicated to people from the smaller ethnic communities. We work across the metropolitan area, with regional offices in both Glenelg and Prospect.

Due to expansion in our services, we are creating a new position to join our Management team. This Team Manager position will be responsible for leading the direction and implementation of programmes within this unit, and for the support and supervision of staff and volunteers. The Team Manager CSFOP Northern Region or Team Manager CSFOP Southern Region is available subject to negotiation.
