Volunteer - Visitor with Pet, Violet's Visitors (9649)

A Volunteer Visitor with their dog will visit an older person once a week at a regular time, as negotiated between the volunteer and the client.

To provide regular company through social visits to an older person. Friendly visiting offers support and company to people who are socially isolated. The role of the volunteer is to:
- Visit an elderly person in their own home with a dog.
- Provide social contact on a regular basis.
- Give information about other community supports where possible.

All Volunteer Visitors are expected to:
- Visit an older person once a week at a regular time as negotiated between the visitor and client.
- Report changes in visiting arrangements or any concerns to the community worker.
- Participate in initial training and any ongoing training as required.
- Maintain confidentiality in respect to private and personal information regarding the person they visit.

As an organisation we take the responsibility to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults very seriously and all staff recruited to work in those areas are required to sign off on and work within the "Code of Conduct for working with children and young people" as well as the "Code of Conduct for working with vulnerable adults".

All applicants need to undergo a comprehensive checking mechanism including but not limited to police checks, qualification checks, referee checks, identity including 100 point checks and professional registration checks.

Police checks are repeated for designated positions as per policy.

Volunteer - Friendly Visitor (9640)

All Volunteer Visitors are expected to visit an older person once per week at a regular time, as negotiated between the visitor and the client.

To provide regular company through social visits to an older person, a person with a disability or a carer who is socially isolated. Friendly visiting provides people who find it increasingly difficult to leave their homes and participate in social activities, with support and company on a regular basis. The role of the Volunteer Visitor is to:
- Provide social contact for an older person, a person with a disability or a carer who is socially isolated and living in their own home.
- Provide information and support where possible.
- Assist in involving and encouraging them to attend other community activities if appropriate.

All Volunteer Visitors are expected to:
- Visit an older person once per week at a regular time, as negotiated between the visitor and the client.
- Report changes in visiting arrangements or concerns to the Community Worker.
- Participate in initial training and ongoing training as required and in accordance with the Do Care Volunteer Training and Development Plan.
- Maintain confidentiality in respect to private and personal information regarding the person they visit.

Volunteer - Phone Support (9631)

The Phone Support Volunteer phones clients at a regular time, weekly or fortnightly.


Phone Support provides an opportunity for one to one phone contact between a client and a volunteer. Each phone support volunteer calls a small number of people at the same time each week for a friendly chat and support. The role of the Phone Support Volunteer is to:
- Provide emotional support to older people, people with disabilities and carers who are socially isolated and who are unable to socialise in their preferred ways.
- Provide information to consumers about other Do Care services.
- Provide a link between consumers and Community Workers who can assist with advocacy and referral information.

- Phone clients at a regular time, weekly or fortnightly.
- Record relevant information about clients in a Phone Support Log.
- Report problems as they arise to the Community Worker.
- Keep a diary of clients’ birthdays and call them near the day.
- Participate in training as required.
- Keep all information about clients strictly confidential.

Volunteer - Telelink Leader (9622)

The Telelink Leader facilitates a group, conference call, directs conversation and encourages quieter participants as required.


The Telelink program provides a telephone based social opportunity for isolated older people, people with a disability and carers who live in their own homes. The leader facilitates a group conversation of 6-8 people. These groups are linked together on the phone at the same time each week for a 45 minute chat. The Telelink provides a social opportunity to people who are housebound or otherwise isolated from their community because of their circumstances.

The role of the Leader is to:
- Provide an opportunity for group interaction for people who are socially isolated.
- Provide information about other Do Care services to the participants.
- Link participants requiring other types of support with the Community Worker.(optional)
